Record sales recorded for Toyota Prius - 08/04/2005 Toyota has announced record sales of the Prius model, both in the month of March and across the first quarter of 2005. It revealed that no fewer than 640 Prius models were sold in March, from a total of 1046 sales across the first three months of 2005. This represents an increase of more than double the 484 sales recorded in the first quarter of 2004. Pail Philpott, Toyota GB's commercial director, said: "Demand for Prius has been very strong since we launched this second generation model in January 2004 and it's encouraging to see demand continuing to grow in 2005." Mr Philpott went on: "Prius has been hugely popular here in the UK and worldwide as customers recognise that Prius excels in clean performance and efficiency, without sacrificing the qualities of ease of use, style and comfort."
