VW announces new Jetta estate - 11/04/2005

Volkswagen has announced plans to replace its Bora model with an estate version of its forthcoming Jetta saloon.

According to Auto Trader magazine, the new car is set to priced at £13,500 and represents a significant addition to the VW fleet.

Initially, VW had said that it would not be making a direct replacement of the Golf estate model as the Golf Plus would evolve into its successor. The Golf Plus model is taller than the standard Golf and will be available from June this year.

However, Automotive News Europe claims that the car-manufacturer is looking to further its sales in the American market with a more conventional estate car.

The Jetta saloon is slated for release in early 2006 and VW has announced that production of the Jetta estate will begin production in mid-2006, which means it likely to be available from 2007.

VW is also set to release an estate version of its Passat this autumn with a likely £16,000 price tag.
