New Superchipped Golf GTI unveiled - 22/03/2005

Director of Volkswagen Cars UK Paul Willis has unveiled a "superchipped" Golf GTI at the companies headquarters in Blakeland, Milton Keynes.

Superchips' technology has boosted the Golf GTI's turbocharged 2.0-litre direct injection petrol performance from the standard 200 PS (197 bhp) to 239 PS (236 bhp), which represents an increase of 20 per cent.

The company boasts that, even on the standard Golf GTI road car, its technology can boost performance by 42 PS (41 bhp) and its torque by 54 Nm.

Superchips managing director Ian Sandford welcomed the development, saying: " We are delighted to be working with Volkswagen Racing UK again this season."

He went on: "It's a natural extension of our ongoing research and development activities, through which we constantly introduce new applications for road-going cars."
