Renault has announced the arrival of a new Megane Renaultsport 225 Trophy model, which it describes as one of the most focused road cars ever made.

The car, which debuted at this month's Geneva Motor Show, is set to combine the extant Megane Renaultsport 225 with elements of the Megane Trophy racecar.

The Trophy offers enhanced brakes, chassis and steering which sets it apart from other special editions where the term apparently means little more than a different colour and some extra gadgets.

The car boasts a 2.0 litre engine that will give Audi TT and Porsche Boxter owners a run for their money, and a six-speed, close ratio gearbox will complement the class-leading engine.

The car is capable of delivering 225 hp at 5,500 rpm.

The Megane Renaultsport 225 Trophy comes with a full complement of equipment both inside and out, from the 18" anthracite coloured wheels to the front sports seats to the six CD multi-changer.
