Toyota set to expand family car fleet - 14/04/2005

Toyota is looking to expand its hold on the family car market with the introduction of new special editions of the Avensis saloon and the smaller Corolla model.

The new Toyota Avensis Colour Collection will look to compete against the likes of the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat in the family car class, with prices starting at £13,995 for a 1.8-litre petrol hatchback or saloon.

This is a saving of £900 on the usual T2 entry-level model, and also comes with an added choice of four metallic paint finishes as standard.

The smaller Toyota Corolla Colour Collection starts at £10,995 which represents a £1400 saving on the T3 models on which they are based. It even offers a £700 saving on the cost of an entry-level T2 model.

It is expected to compete with the likes of the Ford Focus, the Mazda 3 and Volkswagen Golf.

Both Toyota special editions are available in limited numbers until June.
