Vauxhall's spring sales boom - 11/04/2005
Vauxhall recorded a sales boom in March, with sales of its Astra model to private buyers soaring by 84 per cent.
Sales of the Vauxhall Astra are likely to be boosted even further by last weekend's introduction of the Astra Sport Hatch.
Across the board, retail sales were up by 7.4 per cent last month, with the Astra's stellar performance being backed up by a number of models in the Vauxhall fleet.
The Vauxhall Corsa and Zafira led their respective sectors once again, and the Zafira continued to outsell its rivals.
Vauxhall's executive director of sales, marketing and aftersales Bill Parfitt said: "While maintaining our number one position in fleet sales, we were also given a further boost in March by customers spending their own hard-earned cash."
He added: "It's a sure sign that the British public recognises the style and driving excitement that Vauxhall's range of cars and vans offers."
