Volkswagen launches New CrossFox - 08/04/2005 Volkswagen has launched its new CrossFox model in Brazil, with plans to introduce it to these shores in 2006. The strikingly designed CrossFox will compete with the Fiat Panda 4x4 and the Suzuki Jimny in the supermini market. With its front-wheel-drive, bull bar and aluminium running boards, the Crossfox offers the rugged good looks of an off-roader with the convenience of a city car. It comes fitted with a 1.6-litre engine that is capable of 100 bhp, and the tailored gear ratios give it added capacity for acceleration. The CrossFox has been road-tested by Auto Express magazine, which declared the car to be a "real all-rounder". VW Brazil has confirmed that the CrossFox will be unleashed on the European markets next year, although it has not confirmed whether the car will be available in the three-door or the five-door version when it hits the UK.
