Both the Mazda6 saloon and tourer scored top marks in all four Euro NCAP categories after undergoing several crash tests. The scores achieved by the all-new Mazda6 were adult occupant protection (92%), child occupant protection (77%), and safety assist systems (81%) – comfortably above the 80%, 60% and 65% thresholds in these categories required to collect a 5-Star rating overall. The all-new Mazda6 also scored 66% for pedestrian safety, one the best marks in Europe among vehicles tested this year.
Mazda’s SkyActiv technology means the lower-power 148bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine doesn’t compromise on economy: it emits just 104g/km of CO2 and does 67.3mpg. Even the more powerful 173bhp version will do 62.8mpg. Adding an automatic gearbox will harm economy by a few miles to the gallon, but if you need a self-shifter, you shouldn’t be too disappointed.
The New Mazda6's interior has upscale styling, high-end materials and is very well made for a family car. You can benefit from the updated entertainment system, which now has an easy reachable volume control. Still, you can now easily put your destination into the available navigation system. Cabin noise isn’t so much of a problem either, unlike earlier models. The Mazda6's rear seats are roomy and you get more than enough head room too.
The New Mazda 6 has muscular body with a strong backbone. Mazda describe it as an elegant demeanour that hints at the character beneath, an appearance that oozes charm and sophistication, ready to sweep you off your feet at a moment’s notice.
Mazda have words that can provide a perfect summary of cars shaped by their KODO design theme. The new ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design theme takes the aesthetic purity and excitement of Mazda styling to the next level.

The current Mazda 6 has won numerous car awards including the Auto Express 2013 & 2014 family car of the year. The new face-lifted Mazda 6 will look to continue in this tradition of winning, but faces tough competition from the new Ford Mondeo.
