New Nissan Micra Automatic Gearbox | Transmission
Published Date: 11th Feb 2019
Nissan has announced a revised engine line-up including a much-anticipated new Xtrronic model (automatic gearbox), for their popular small car, the Micra.
The new additions and changes to engine options, featuring new ‘world-first’ technologies are:
- A new 1.0 litre petrol IG-T (100 PS) engine with Xtronic automatic gearbox
- A new more powerful 1.0 litre IG-T (100 PS) with 5-speed manual transmission
- A new range-topping DIG-T 117 turbocharged petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission
Nissan Micra - 1.0-Litre petrol IG-T 100 (Xtronic Automatic Gearbox)
The new Xtronic automatic gearbox is a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) unit featuring the latest D-Step technology which calculates the ideal gear ratio needed to deliver smooth acceleration and downshifting. The result is a smoother/quieter CVT transmission especially under heavier acceleration with stepped ratio changes.
The new D-Step technology also delivers more responsive downshifting and better fuel economy figures than traditional CVT transmissions.
The new CVT gearbox is in response to increased demand for automatic transmissions in the small car segment. Industry experts predict that the number of small cars with automatic gearboxes will double in the next 18-24 months.
Order books are open now for 2019 Nissan Micra Automatic models on the new March 19 plate.
