Nissan Micra Xtronix Automatic GearboxThe new Xtronic automatic gearbox is a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) unit featuring the latest D-Step technology which calculates the ideal gear ratio needed to deliver smooth acceleration and downshifting. The result is a smoother/quieter CVT transmission especially under heavier acceleration with stepped ratio changes.

The new D-Step technology also delivers more responsive downshifting and better fuel economy figures than traditional CVT transmissions.

The new CVT gearbox is in response to increased demand for automatic transmissions in the small car segment. Industry experts predict that the number of small cars with automatic gearboxes will double in the next 18-24 months.
