Toyota sets a new Standard in RAV4 safety

Published Date: 19th Oct 2016

Toyota has updated the new 2017 RAV4 model with safety in mind and now includes the next level of safety technology as standard. From now on the RAV4 will come with TSS or Toyota Safety Sense as standard on all models excluding only the entry level Active, where the TSS option is a £1,060 extra.

So the RAV4 is now equipped with a range of safety functions that reduce the risk of a collision in emergency situations such as autonomous braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, automatic traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam operation.

All of these features all wrapped up together means that you’re significantly better protected and therefore less of a risk for insurance companies. This shows in the insurance group ratings for the RAV4 reducing by up to six levels lower than last year’s model without the TSS. To sum up, this will mean significantly lower ownership costs for you.

Another key feature for the 2017 RAV4 is the inclusion of the Toyota Touch 2 with Go multimedia and navigation on all trim levels apart from the base trim, the Active. The option was very popular on the previous 2016 model so Toyota has now made the feature standard. The system comes with three years worth of updates free of charge and the range topping Excel benefit from Voice recognition and 3D mapping.

Business Edition, Business Edition Plus and Icon now include front and rear parking sensors with ambient foot-well lighting (Foot-well lighting also added to the Excel). A new black roof lining is available on the Excel that is changed to grey when you have the sunroof option.

A premium pack is a new option that includes the sunroof, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and a hands free power tailgate. This tailgate now has a kick sensor under the rear bumper that will open the rear tailgate (provided you have the key on your person) with a wave of the foot underneath the bumper, handy for when you’re carrying bags or large items.

Finally, two new colours have been added to the line up Silver Blade and Phantom Blue. Both colours are available in a full body finish including body coloured bumpers and wheel arches with contrasting front and rear under runs that are black on the Blade Silver and silver on the Phantom Blue.
