The Mercedes-Benz AMG was once a separate company that tuned up standard Mercedes-Benz models. Bigger and more powerful engines are the heart and soul of the AMG treatment, even though the company became a wholly owned subsidiary years ago. The engine in the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG Coupe is a handcrafted V-12. The AMG tradition is that the individual master craftsman who builds each engine puts his signature on it when he’s finished. That’s not to say the end product is some quaint relic. Top speed is 186 mph; this is not bad for a car that could be used as a family car, unlike a two-seat race car.
