“The SKODA OCTAVIA has always been in a class of its own in the compact segment,” says SKODA CEO Bernhard Maier. “As the 'heart of the brand', the Octavia has decisively shaped SKODA’s outstanding development from the very start, and has made the company what it is today: an internationally successful automotive manufacturer with a presence in more than 100 markets worldwide. With the now extensively revised SKODA OCTAVIA, we are keen to continue this development sustainably.”
The New 2017 Skoda Octavia
The Octavia has been the Czech manufacturer’s best selling model by far In the 20 years since they re-introduced the model. The great success comes from the design, functionality, safety and comfort technology, space and value for money that comes with a new Octavia. Since the re-launch in 1996, five million customers across the world have chosen the Octavia and with this new revision, Skoda plan to continue the success story and strengthen its position across the globe.
The Front end receives most of the revision and it is no subtle change, it looks completely different from the 2016 model. With sweeping lines coming in from the outside of the bonnet and a dual headlight design on both sides of the newly designed front grille, the Skoda badge now has more presence. The central part of the grille is now flat to incorporate safety sensors for autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
All four infotainment systems have now been upgraded to feature capacitive touch displays behind the glass screen, meaning a much lighter touch is required to use the systems. The top of the range Columbus system feature a full 9.2 inch screen with WLAN hotspot that can be used to provide wireless internet for occupants through a 4g data sim card slot.
New features added to the 2017 Octavia include a customisable key that will allow multiple users save their own vehicle settings, also a heated steering wheel and fold down tables on the back of the front seats. The estate version will benefit from a removable torch in the boot that will come in handy as Skoda continues to live up to it’s “simply clever” slogan.
Five TSI petrol and four TDI diesels make up the engine range from 1.0L to 2.0L in displacement available in manual and six or seven speed automatic DSG transmissions. Four wheel drive is available in the 1.8 TSI and 2.0TDI variants.
The newly worked 2017 Skoda Octavia will be available from the end of the year and deliveries in the first markets will begin early 2017.
