The New Fiat 500

Published Date: 20th Aug 2007

Following its relaunch this July in Turin, 50 years after the original Fiat 500 was launched, orders for the new model Fiat 500 have been dramatic.

Already 51,000 of the new model Fiat 500 have been ordered in Italy and 6,000 have been ordered in France, with the result that this year’s entire production has already been sold! Fiat now intends to increase the number of the new model being produced in their factory in Poland to ensure availability.

The new Fiat 500 is due to go on sale in the UK early next year. It is set to directly compete with the very popular Mini and is a very cool small car. Buyers will be able to choose from a huge range of choices to customise their new Fiat 500 – Fiat say there are a staggering 500,000 different combinations. Many of the customised ideas came from the public via Fiat’s website – Fiat received 3 and a half million ideas!

Choices available on the exterior range from a chrome finish to 19 original body graphics or a full-length glass roof. Fifteen interior trims will be available, 9 types of wheel trims plus 100 in-car accessories. The interior manages to make retro styling look up-to-date, with bare metal paint and a big speedo in front of the steering wheel. It will also have MP3 and phone connections, a sat-nav system and USB port.

Prices for the new Fiat 500 range will be confirmed nearer to the January 2008 sale date.
