New Fiat 500 January Launch

Published Date: 31st Jan 2008

Fiat Group has launched its new Fiat 500 in the UK – with a flight in one of the capsules on the British Airways London Eye.   The new Fiat 500, which has recently been voted Car of the Year 2008, took to the air on Monday 21January at 8pm – exactly 500 hours into the New Year.

Fiat staged a celebrity and showbiz event around the launch, featuring live bands, top presenters and a fantastic light show.

With a great retro look both inside and out, based on the strengths of the original model, the new model Fiat 500 has loads of charm and looks set to be a huge success.    There is a long list of design options to suit your new Fiat 500 to your specification – with options of chequered roofs or stripes, alloy wheels, different trim and bodykit options, Fiat say there is up to 550,000 permutations.

The new Fiat 500 has been awarded a 5-star NCAP crash test rating and comes with 7 airbags as standard.   It comes in 3 trim levels – Pop, Sport and Lounge and all trim levels have a high standard of specification – the entry-level Pop trim comes with an MP3 compatible stereo and a trip computer.

The new Fiat 500 has a range of 3 engines choices starting with a 1.2 litre petrol, then a 1.4 litre petrol and lastly a 1.3litre Multijet diesel engine.   Fiat is also due to launch the Fiat Abarth 500 at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008 and an Abarth SS model is then set to arrive before summer 2008.
