The Ford Focus has performed well in tests designed to see which headrests provide the best protection against whiplash.

Headrests play a key role in supporting the head and can reduce the chances of suffering whiplash.

The Ford Focus was among a number of cars awarded a "good" rating by Thatcham insurance research centre.

Others included the Nissan Almera Tinto, the Renault Clio, the Peugeot 107 and the Vauxhall Corsa.
