New Volkswagen Golf R-Line

Published Date: 3rd Feb 2015

R-line sits above GT trim and is priced from £24,190, with first deliveries set for March

The order books for the new Volkswagen Golf R-line are now open, with prices for the new R-line starting from £24,190 and deliveries set for the March 15 plate.

This new and improved specification includes sportier styling and a choice of VW’s 1.4-litre TSI petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engines. All R-line’s come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard or a seven-speed DSG gearbox can be incorporated as an optional extra - and CO2 emissions range from 109-112g/km for the petrol engine and 106-119g/km for the diesel equivalent.

The Golf R-line sits just above the Golf GT trim and includes sat-nav as standard and sports suspension, as well as a rear spoiler, side skirts, R-line front bumpers and fog lights, R-line rear bumper and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the sporty theme continues with stainless steel pedals and front door sills, black lead grey inlays and door trims, sports seats, a black roof lining, leather gearknob and a leather sports steering wheel.

The 1.4-litre petrol engine starts at £24,190 for the three-door version in manual guise, rising to £26,260 for the five-door version with DSG gearbox. The 2.0-litre diesel is priced from £24,695, with the top priced five-door DSG coming in at £26,765.

The new VW golf R-line is available to order now for March 15 plate delivery. The new trim level sits in the shadow of the Golf R, but gives you that sporty feel without having to part with £30,000. The Golf R does have a tantalising power output of 300bhp, which has attracted buyers looking for that extra rocket power in the Hot-hatch category. You could look at the Golf R-line as a diet coke to the full fat Golf R.
