New BMW 3 Series Touring (Estate)

Published Date: 16th Sep 2005

BMW has launches the latest incarnation of its ever popular 3 Series Touring (or estate to you and me) on home turf this week.

Like the new BMW 3 Series Saloon, the Touring will be available with four wheel drive, and as such the 3 Series becomes the fourth BMW variant to feature the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

Also debuting at the show are four new 5 Series variants. A 520d diesel joins the line-up along side a new BMW 5 Series all-wheel drive diesel. Meanwhile two new eight-cylinder models join the top of the range.

Added to the new BMW diesel selection, and also debuting at the show, is the 730Ld, which sees a three-litre diesel engine crafted into the long wheel base version of the new 7 Series.

A one-off, ultra-desirable, 650i Convertible stole the show on the BMW stand though. There are currently no public production plans for the model.
