Nissan teases, what is the fuel station of the future?
The Innovative car maker from Japan have recently teased a video of a future concept for wireless charging of its electric vehicles That will debut at the 86th Geneva International Motor Show 3rd to 13th March 2016.
It features a charging plate built into the road. This new plate dubbed “The fuel station of the future” from Nissan, will charge the car wirelessly through Induction from the plate. Although this is nothing new with BMW and Mercedes Benz working together on their own concept for the home, they’ve struggled to get the charging times down to an overnight charge. Nissan on the other hand have said to have cracked it, cutting the long times for charging.
The technology involved to get this down to an overnight charge is not yet known but last month Nissan showed off a powerful 7KW wireless charging pad that was capable of charging their latest 60KW battery overnight. This bigger, longer lasting battery is set to propel the next Nissan LEAF increasing the range to 500km or 312 miles.
