New 2020 Megane Features Plug-in Hybrid For First Time

The first ever Renault Megane plug-in hybrid model should be available to UK buyers as early as July 2020 with levels of tech and autonomous driving features never seen before in a Megane.

Megane Features Plug-in Hybrid Model for First Time

The new E-Tech plug-in combines a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors to produce 158bhp.

2020 Megane E-Tech HybridEquipped with a 9.8kWh battery. In electric mode it will be capable of travelling up to 30 miles in mixed cycle (WLTP) and 40 miles in urban cycle (WLTP City), whilst running in mixed cycle mode it can return C02 emissions under 40g/km.

The New Mégane E-TECH Plug-in features MySense with three driving modes; Pure mode (switches to full electric mode if enough power is available), My Sense mode is a hybrid mode optimised for the low running costs taking into account available power and finally Sport mode deliver the best performance.

New Renault Megane Design

The new exterior design features a more chiselled, bold design featuring strong lines that follows design cues we’ve seen in other new Renaault models like the 2020 Clio.

2020 Megane LED headlightsFor the first time the entire range will get full LED lights (replacing halogen lights on previous entry-level models). Headlights, fog lights and rear lights are all LED and the new ‘Pure Vision’ headlights can improve visibility by up to 30% say Renault.

At launch the new Megane will be available with 10 paint colours including 3 new colours; Solar Copper, Baltic Grey and Highland Grey. All new Megane models will also benefit from Renault's new extended 5 year warranty.

Levels of Tech Never Seen Before

2020 Megane InteriorThe 2020 model features levels of tech never seen before in a Megane, inside there’s a new hi-tech 10-inch digital instrument cluster and large 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on higher grade models.

The infotainment system is powered by Renault’s latest EASYLINK multimedia platform which features smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Driver & Safety Tech Delivers Level 2 Autonomous Driving Features

A new ‘Highway & Traffic Jam Companion’ system is an option with TCe 140 EDC and E-TECH Plug-in Hybrid models, the system delivers Level 2 Autonomous Driving features.

The system includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and warning systems, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assistant and lane departure warning aids.

The system also features a driver drowsiness detection system that can detect when a driver is getting tired by monitoring steering wheel movements and triggering a voice announcement encouraging the driver to take a break.

Parking aids include an optional reversing camera, and something called Easy Park Assist which makes parallel parking a snip.
