5th Generation Renault Clio Gets Subtle Exterior Design Tweaks
The Clio has evolved from a quirky looking supermini into a mature, sleek looking small car. The new Clio is also 30mm lower than the outgoing model which adds to the streamlined and sportier look.
Renault have built on the contours and sculpted look of the previous model. At the front flowing lines along the bonnet, a larger grille and stronger bumper all add to the look, as do the all-Led C-Shape lights. Front and rear LED lights are now standard on all models.
There are also new larger intakes at the front, which are part of several new design features for improved aerodynamics, handling and efficiency along with new air deflectors on the wheel arches.
Other little touches help enhance the exterior look like 17-inch alloy wheels (on higher grade models), a shark fin antenna, chrome trim around the side windows and black gloss window pillars and rear handles.
At the rear there’s more touches of chrome trim and a new reshaped and redesigned tailgate that sweeps down and fits flush to the rear bumper.
Clio Interior Boast High Quality Materials & Class Leading Tech.
The new 5th generation Clio’s interior boasts a digital instrument display for the first time and a new 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, possibly the biggest in class.
The 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is powered by Renault’s latest version of their EASY LINK platform which supports a wide array of the features including Bluetooth, sat nav and smartphone integration in the form of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The standard digital instrument display is 7-inch in size, while higher grade models get a 10-inch digital display with integrated GPS navigation. Combine the larger instrument display that with the 9.3-inch infotainment system and you get an extremely high-tech and impressive looking dashboard that you can't fail to be impressed by.
The entire interior of the new Renault Clio has had a makeover, upgrade and complete redesign. New seats, are of extremely high quality and would only be found on higher grade models previously, they are standard now. There are ‘piano’ finish buttons and soft touch materials on the dash and door panels, more so on higher-grade models giving the new Clio an altogether more premium feel inside than the outgoing 4th generation model.
Ergonomics and comfort have also played a big part in the interior redesign with better lumbar support in the newly designed seats, the resculptured dashboard with infotainment screen positioned higher-up and a new steering wheel have all been designed with ergonomics in mind.
5th Gen Clio Offers Greater Levels of Customisation
The new Renault Clio offers new levels of customisation with eight different interior colour schemes and ambient lighting choices. Colour schemes are applied to the centre-console, dashboard, steering wheel, door panels and arm rests.
The Clio is available in 10 paint colours including new vibrant colours ‘Valencia Orange’ and ‘Celadon Blue’ and there are three exterior customisation packs (in red, orange and black). Renault say the new paint colours offer ‘unprecedented depth and radiance thanks to a unique coloured varnish’.
New Sportier RS Line Model Replaces GT Line Trim-Level
The new Renault Clio RS Line model replaces the GT Line which will be phased out. The RS Line brings new levels of ‘sportiness’ to the Renault Clio.
The new Clio RS Line boasts all the core exterior and interior design cues of Renault Sport.
The exterior is fitted with the F1 blade a key component of Renault Sport models. It also features a unique honeycomb front grille and special RS Line 17-inch alloy wheels, whilst the rear exterior styling gives it a much sportier look than standard Clio models.
The interior features trade-mark RS Line sports seats with added lumbar support and red detail stitching plus aluminium sports pedals. The RS Line interior further sets itself apart from the Clio range with distinctive carbon-look inserts, a perforated leather sports steering wheel with red detail stitching and RS diamond badge. The theme continues with touches of red and RS branding throughout the interior.
New Renault Clio Hybrid arriving in 2020
The Clio will get a new hybrid engine in 2020 called the E-tech. The new engine will combine a 90bhp petrol engine with an electric motor powered by a 1.2kWh battery.
The new hybrid powered model will also feature brake regeneration, three driving modes and Renault say you will be able to get up to 70% of your driving done in full electric mode in ‘urban driving’ conditions. The new hybrid model should be a great fit and and keep running costs extremely low for people who do most of their driving in short ‘around town’ trips or don’t have to travel too far to/from work each day.
