Ford Kuga - Save up to £5,783

The latest Ford Kuga is bigger, more spacious with a bigger boot and is more comfortable than its predecessor, placing it perfectly in the SUV/Crossover segment as an excellent family car.

Toyota Yaris - Save up to £4,327

The all-new Toyota Yaris will hit UK showrooms in Spring, with host of updates that include new eye-catching exterior looks.

It is frequently said that you can take the Yaris round the clock with little to no issues. It’s also one of the safest small cars you can buy.

The entry-level engine are a 1.0-litre petrol (manual transmission only)  which is OK for around town ‘light’ driving but if you try to fill the car full of passengers or get on the motorway you might find it feels a bit underpowered. Ford Fiesta – Save up to £4,410

Best-selling car in the UK, the Fiesta, it offers something for everyone and is one of, if not the best small car to drive. From economical around-town runner to full hot hatch ST model which are immense fun to drive it covers all the bases.

The latest model sees significant improvements to the interior, cabin quality has been improved, all models get the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment systems with DAB radio, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

If you go for a Titanium model, you’ll get some extra tech like cruise control, keyless start and engine start button. The infotainment system also gets additional features like integrated sat nav and FordPass Connect (Wi-Fi hotspot and companion smartphone app that allows you to remotely control certain features of the vehicle).

ST-line models get sportier suspension and interior/exterior styling, Vignale is the top grade with some extra comfort/luxury like leather interior and heated front seats. ST models offer the full hot hatch experience (0-62mph in around 6.5 seconds).

Toyota RAV 4 - Save up to £4,327

The Toyota RAV4 is one of the largest mid-sized SUVs on the market, offering low running costs on a par with some of the most economical small cars.

2020 RAV4Currently available with a 2WD or AWD self-charging hybrid engine (with a plug-in hybrid earmarked for later in 2020). This very distinctive SUV combines style with ultra-low running costs offering a combined fuel economy of over 100mpg and CO2 emissions as low 99g/km.

Inside the RAV4, sat in the driver’s seat offers a very high/commanding position and visibility is very good. All models are well-equipped and even entry-level models get rear parking sensors and rear-view camera as standard.

Interior quality of the cabin is very good and matches up to most rivals, although it won’t live up to a  Peugeot 5008, which has a particularly impressive interior.

Its spacious, considerably bigger than a Nissan Qashqai for example, and a tad smaller than the very roomy Honda CR-V for interior space.

If you’re looking for a generous sized family SUV that will deliver extremely low running costs then the RAV4 should be on your shortlist.

Ford Fiesta Active & Active X Edition - Save up to £4,269

The Active and Active models are the SUV-inspired Fiesta models built on the same excellent Fiesta platform.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - Save up to £7,698

The Mistubishi Outlander PHEV has been a huge seller in the UK world of plug-in cars. Powered by a 2.4 litre petrol engine couple with two electric motors it feels refined due to years of development.

2020 Outlander PHEVOfficial figures say you can drive in EV mode (full electric) for up to 28 miles which means regular short round trips to work and back cold feasibly be done in full electric mode taking running costs to a new low-level.

Of course, if you’re traveling at motorway speeds or driving the car hard/in sport model then you won’t get that kind of full electric range. Most of the time you’ll be driving in PHEV mode which can get you a combined fuel economy of over 150mpg and deliver super low emissions of just 40g/km.

The interior is of good quality albeit a tad safe, its spacious and all models are well equipped even entry-level verve models get dual zone climate control, rear parking sensors, front seat heaters and cruise control.

Ford Focus Hatchback - Save up to £6,179
