2013 New Ford Fiesta ST
Published Date: 26th Apr 2013
We recently looked at the frugal New Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost and now for those of you who would like a Fiesta that’ll get the adrenalin pumping a little more we’re going to take a look at the new 2013 Ford Fiesta ST range which comes in two variants the Fiesta ST-1 and Fiesta ST-2.
New Ford Fiesta ST Styling
Ford has already given the regular Fiesta range improved looks and a sportier image and the ST range builds on this and gets it own unique version of the new Fiesta Grille, a bolder front bumper, a sports exhaust and 17 inch alloy wheels. Inside the car you get Recaro sports seats, a sports steering wheel and piano black trim to distinguish it from the regular Fiesta.
New Ford Fiesta ST Performance
The new Fiesta ST is powered by a state-of-the-art 1.6-litre turbocharged ecoboost petrol engine (182 PS) with a six speed manual gearbox that propels the vehicle from 0-62mph in just 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 137mph, the ecoboost technology helps to achieve a fuel economy of up to 47.8 mpg (combined) with CO2 emissions of 138g/km, obviously you’ll have to drive the car extremely gently to get close to this figure though! Ford have also upgraded the suspension, there's a three mode traction control system and the chassis has been lowered by 15mm for improved handling. The ST model is also the first Fiesta to featured disc brakes all round. It should also be noted that the ST only comes in a 3 door model which looks-wise is a plus but it might be a practical issue to consider if you’re looking at buying a new Fiesta ST
New Ford Fiesta ST Equipment
Both models get 17” alloy wheels, Recaro sports seats and sports steering wheel with leather trim. Ford’s SYNC system is on-board which enables you to play music via USB, iPod/MP3 player or stream music from your mobile phone, there’s also voice activation for making calls and it can even read out your text messages! In the event of an accident it can also automatically call the emergency services with your GPS coordinates. The ST is equipped with Ford’s MyKey technology allows you to set limits like top speed or mute the audio system if seat-belts are not fastened, all potentially very useful features for protective parents.
If you opt for the ST-2 model you’ll benefit from the addition of part-leather upholstery, heated front seats and an upgraded Sony Audio system.
New Ford Fiesta ST Options
An optional style kit is available which includes grey alloys and illuminated ST door sill plates.
