UK Super Low Emissions Cars

Published Date: 3rd Dec 2013

The UK government has committed itself to spending 500 million pounds in 5 years between 2015 and 2020 (on top of an estimated 400 million up to 2015) in an effort to drastically increase the number of drivers on UK roads of super low emission vehicles.

Although the latest low emissions and road tax exempt petrol and diesel cars have revolutionised the industry and Hybrids are becoming a much more common sight on UK roads with Toyota’s flagship Prius Hybrid being at the forefront. Electric vehicles are still rare and present a number of obstacles for motorists. For one a full electric vehicle has a very limited range before recharging is required and then there is the additional problem that very few recharging locations are available across the UK.

The government drive headed by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has invited leading motoring organisations and key players in the industry to give their input with the target of establishing the UK as the front-runner in Europe for electric vehicles and super low emissions by making them practical and appealing to the masses.
