UK Car Discount is proud to launch part one of our very first car awards. The 2014 car awards are a result of customer feedback combined with decades of professional knowledge.

Best Small Car Award - The Ford Fiesta

New 2014 Ford Fiesta

Britain’s best-selling car and supermini, even the low-end models are great fun to drive around town and yet still offer a comfortable ride on longer journeys. As standard on all models there is a substantial list of safety features.

The new 2014 Ford Fiesta range offers something for just about everybody from super-efficient diesel engines to the acclaimed Ford ecoboost engine that offers superb fuel economy and low emissions for a petrol engine. At the other end of the spectrum the all new ST models pack a punch and are incredible fun to drive if you are looking for a small hothatch.

There’s nothing negative we can say about the Fiesta, it may be more expensive than some other superminis but it offers more so we think its worth every penny.

Best Small Family Car - The Seat Leon Hatchback

2014 New Seat LeonThe latest edition of the Seat Leon offers a viable alternative to some more established models in this class like the new Ford Focus and VW Golf models. The first thing to note about the 2014 Seat Leon is its looks, it really is a looker. Inside  Seat also have delivered a fantastic looking vehicle. As you’d expect with a Seat cost price is competitive and you’ll get some excellent engine options if you are looking for low running costs with the most economical models offering up to 85mpg.

At the sportier end there’s a new Leon SC model and the stunning Leon Cupra 280 which has had car enthusiasts purring with it’s stunning looks and nippy 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, yet at the same time is still comfortable enough for a family car.

Best Large Family Car - The Skoda Octavia

As we awarded the Octavia both best large family car and best estate car it made sense to combine the two. If you’re in the market for either you won’t go far wrong with the all new Skoda Octavia. It  offers low running costs for a car in its class and a decent range of engines with the most  economical able to achieve up to 74mpg plus low emissions that mean road tax exemption.

Safety is a big feature too, the new 2014 Skoda Octavia scored the full 5 stars in NCAP safety tests and has gained a reputation for superb reliability and an excellent build quality. With good levels of equipment across the range and competitive pricing you should give the Octavia a chance if you are in the market for a good size family car.

Best MPV - The Citroen C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso

New 2014 C4 Grand PicassoThe all-new Citroen C4 Picasso (5 seats) and its biogger brother the 7 seater Grand C4 Picasso offer spacious MPV options respectively with lots of clever storage and seating options.

There are plenty of engine options and equipment available but we recommend the Picasso Exclusive trim-level (1.6-litre diesel  Manual). The engine has enough power to pull a car full people along nicely and the Executive trim level offers excellent equipment levels and technology.

Note also the unique eye-catching looks of the C4 Picasso that help it stand out in the crowd!

Best SUV / Crossover - The Nissan Qashqai

The Nissan Qashqai is the UK’s favourite SUV/Crossover in an increasingly crowded market where manufacturer’s are all seeking to cash-in on an ever increasingly popular class of vehicle.

Despite the competition the all-new Nissan Qashqai model builds on it’s predecessor and delivers a stunning looking car packed with equipment and some very clever technology and plenty of engine options including some economical petrol and diesel options with  2WD, 4WD, manual transmission or the Xtronic automatic gearbox.

Best Luxury Car - The Mercedes S-Class

2014 New Mercedes S-ClassThe S-Class is considered by many the most luxurious Mercedes model and is loaded with state-of-the-art technology and equipment especially if you add-in the executive pack. Available are a V6 diesel, V8 petrol and a petrol-electric hybrid engine, all of which offer an exceptionally smooth and quiet journey cruising on the motorway

The price-tag is high but for the amount of comfort, luxury and equipment the all-new Mercedes S-Class delivers it’s probably worth every penny.

Next month we’ll release another 6 UK Car Discount Car Awards including best convertible, coupe, and hothatch.
