The New Skoda Fabia Model

Skoda is due to launch an updated version of its very popular Fabia model.

The new Skoda Fabia model will be available in a range of engine types – featuring 4 petrol and 3 diesel engines. Petrol engines start with a 1.2 6v 60bhp engine and goes up to a 1.6 16v 105bhp 6-speed tiptronic engine. The diesel engines will start with a 1.4 TDI PD 70bhp up to a 1.9 TDI PD 105bhp engine at the top of the engine range.

The new model Fabia is bigger than the previous model, giving more head and legroom. It also has more boot space, giving 300 litres of space when the rear seats are up and 1,163 litres when seats are folded. It will be available in a wide range of bodywork colours plus the interior has better quality materials than the previous model.

Skoda has recently done very well in terms of votes from car owners. In Top Gear magazine 56,000 readers took part in a survey of car owners’ satisfaction. Skoda was voted the number one car manufacturer of 2006, with 3 of its models – the Fabia, the Octavia and the Superb – in the top ten.

The new Skoda comes in 3 trim levels, simply called 1,2 or 3. For the basic trim level – 1, key specifications include – dual front and side airbags, split rear seat (60/40), height adjustable driver’s seat, height/reach adjustable steering wheel, central door locking, electric front windows and a radio/CD player with MP3 and 4 speakers. Level 2 also includes the likes of air-con, trip computer, remote central locking, 15" alloys plus electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors. The top trim level, 3, also includes cruise control, 16" alloys, a leather 4-spoke steering wheel, gearknob and gaiter plus rear parking sensors.

Despite being bigger, better equipped and more stylish than the model it replaces, the new Fabia still comes at a great price and offers excellent value for money. The new model Skoda Fabia will be available from May 2007.
