Peugeot 2008 RX Release
Published Date: 18th May 2014
Peugeot are set to release a three-door version of the 2008. These new pics show how the 2008 RX might look.
It is thought that Peugeot are to be working on a brand new 3dr vehicle to compliment the very successful 2008 model. It will use a slimmed down version of the 2008’s body, and take the total length to 3,900mm – about 300mm shorter than the current 2008 model.
Peugeot are debating a name for the car at the moment, the 1008 and 2008 RX are both been considered reports suggest. The engines will be taken from the 208 and 2008 models, including the 1.0-litre VTi, which has a power output of 68bhp.
You can see from the images, the sporty SUV borrows the curves from Peugeot’s latest model range, like the stepped lights from the award-winning Peugeot 308 hatch as well as claw-style tail-lights also from the 308. Although, there’s no sign of the 2008’s signature roof rails.
The launch will form a big part of a Peugeot push on SUV/Crossover models, this will include the all-new 3008 that will feature more recognisable off the road styling. Peugeot is also considering a larger 6008 model especially for China, this will potentially rival premium models such as the Audi Q5.
A new 3 cylinder turbo engine will also be on offer. The new SUV/Crossover is due to go on sale sometime in the summer of 2016, and will undercut the 2008 by almost £1,000, this will take the starting price to around £12,000, which will be very competitive when compared to its rivals.
