New Suzuki Vitara confirmed

Suzuki has unveiled new Vitara ahead of its 2014 Paris Motor Show debut, with the SUV due to go on sale in the UK next spring

Just over 25 years have passed, and the Suzuki Vitara is now back, and it’s returned to its compact SUV roots. After its public debut at the Paris Motor Show this October, the new five-door crossover will go on sale here in the UK next spring, and looks set to rival the likes of Nissan’s Juke and the Renault Captur.

Suzuki have already previewed the all-new Suzuki Vitara at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show with the stylish iV-4 concept, and the production model has clearly carried over a number of design features, including the sharp crease running down the flanks and wraparound headlights that flow straight into the grille.

Just like the working prototype, Suzuki’s latest ALLGRIP all-wheel drive system will be available on the Vitara, alongside a range of petrol and diesel engines that apparently “offer low CO2 emissions as well as outstanding fuel economy”.

The Japanese manufacturer isn’t banking on efficiency and off-road appeal alone though, and – again in keeping with the iV-4’s approach – will offer customers various colour and trim personalisation options.

Further details are fairly scarce at the moment, but you can expect a starting price around £12,500, with more information to be revealed by Suzuki in Paris on October 2nd 2014.
