New Seat Leon SC (Sport Coupe) Review

Published Date: 28th Jun 2013

The new 2013 Seat Leon SC (Sport Coupe) is the three-door version of the new 5 door family hatchback Seat Leon.

The Leon SC has a shorter wheelbase than the five-door Leon, along with a lower roofline and it builds on the striking good looks of the 5 door hatchback to deliver an eye-catching vehicle. If you’re looking for an alternative to the VW Golf the Leon SC is definitely worth looking at and would probably be significantly cheaper depending on the trim-level and options you choose.

Three trim-levels are available, the new Seat Leon S, SE and FR models.

Entry-level Seat  Leon S models are well equipped with air conditioning, anti-lock braking system (ABS), Bluetooth, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring, seven airbags, a trip computer, CD/MP3 player with a 5” colour touch screen and integrated USB/SD card port. There are a couple of optional packs for the S model. The Lifestyle Pack includes 16 inch alloy wheels and cornering front fog lights and a fatigue recognition system. The Comfort Pack includes cruise control and rear parking sensors.

You’re limited to just two engines with the S trim-level, a 1.2 TSI petrol (105PS and 114 g/km CO2) or the 1.6 TDI diesel (105PS and 99 g/km CO2).

The mid-rand SE model is probably going to be the big seller in the Leon SC range it adds 16” alloy wheels, cornering front fog lights, cruise control, driver's lumbar adjustment and a leather-trimmed steering wheel as standard.

You get a much a more generous selection of engines with the SE trim-level as well as the 1.2 TSI (105PS) and 1.6TDI (105PS), available are a 1.4 TSI (140PS) and a punchier 2.0 TDI (150PS) diesel. Manual and DSG Auto transmissions are also available.

Optional extras for the SE trim-level include leather or Alcantara seats, 17 inch alloy wheels, a premium SEAT Sound System, Sat Nav and DAB radio.

The top of the range new Seat Leon Sport Coupe FR adds a number of options including a bolder front and rear with FR badging. You also get 17” alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, SEAT ‘Drive Profile’, front & rear parking sensors plus dark-tinted rear windows.

Engine choices with the FR are a 1.4 TSI (140PS), 1.8 TSI (180PS / available in manual or DSG-auto), 2.0 TDI (150PS / available in manual or DSG-auto) or the 2.0 TDI (184PS).

Optional extras for the FR model are a Technology pack that includes Full LED headlights, Sat Nav and a DAB radio. There's also the Titanium pack, which includes 18 inch alloy wheels with matching titanium coloured door mirrors.
