New Seat Altea Freetrack
Published Date: 5th Jun 2007
The new Seat Altea Freetrack is due to be launched at the Barcelona Motor Show in early June, and Seat has just recently released details of the new model. It will then be on sale in the UK this September.
Based on Seat’s existing Altea XL, the new Freetrack is a 4-wheel drive model with distinctive looks – black front and rear bumpers and extended wheel arches plus a deep honeycombe grille. The Altea Freetrack is higher by 40mm than the Altea XL for better ground clearance and is the first Seat designed for off-road driving.
The new Seat Altea Freetrack will come with either a 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine giving 133mph and achieving 0-62 in 7.5 seconds or a 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine reaching 127mph and 0-62 in 8.7 seconds.
It will be available in one trim level only but the standard specification is impressive including a 7-inch multimedia screen that is mounted on the roof. This provides an RCA connection that allows a link to a DVD player, video games, a laptop computer and an MP3 player. Other standard features are dual zone climate control, parking sensors, cruise control and a CD MP3 stereo with steering wheel mounted controls.
The Altea Freetrack has an impressive amount of storage space, with a spacious 593 litre boot plus split rear seats which slide up to 16cm back and forth.
