A new and more powerful Fiesta ST from Ford has been revealed ahead of the Geneva motor show.
The new car from Ford features a tuned 1.6 litre EcoBoost engine with power up from 180bhp to 197bhp and torque is now 290Nm up from 244Nm. This is all increased to 212bhp and 319Nm for up to 15 seconds using the over boost built in to the engine controller. This mode is automatically applied when the accelerator pedal is pressed down fully in 3rd gear and above to give you a little extra boost pressure for overtaking.
The six speed manual gearbox ratio has been refined to deliver a faster 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds 0.2 seconds faster than the standard ST. Other improvements and modifications include a three stage electronic stability control, modified front steering knuckle and arm to create a quicker steering ratio, a lower centre of gravity by 15mm and the brakes have been upgraded at the rear.
This will be an encore for the current model with the new one in the works and set for 2017. Ford of Europe’s Joe Bakaj quoted that the new ST200 is “a future classic in the making”. The ST has been a huge hit here in the UK with almost two thirds of all ST’s sold in Europe bought in the UK.
