New Alfa Romeo Spider

The new version of Alfa Romeo’s very popular convertible – the Spider – has recently gone on sale in the UK.

It is available in four versions:- 

• a 2.2 litre, 185 bhp, 4-cylinder petrol engine
• a 3.2 litre, 260 bhp,  V6 petrol engine
• a 2.4 litre 20v, 200bhp, MultiJet (JTDM) turbodiesel
• a 3.2 litre JTS V6 engine with Alfa Romeo’s QTRONIC 6-speed automatic transmission 

The new Spider shares a platform and components with the Alfa Romeo Brera and sits on an identical 2528mm wheelbase.

The Spider has a range of both passive and active safety features including up to 6 airbags, a fully integrated Fire Prevention System, electronic braking, traction control, ABS anti-lock braking and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

The double-layer fabric roof is fully automated and retracts in less than 25 seconds.  The roof is then stored in a separate area so it doesn’t infringe on the boot capacity of 200 litres – which is 36% more spacious than the previous Spider.

The Alfa Romeo Spider offers a top range standard specification including cruise control, Dual Zone rear parking sensors, 17" alloys, a multi-function display and trip computer plus a 6-speaker radio and CD player.
