KIA Tops New Car Sales in 2022

KIA new cars have been going from strength to strength, and 2022 has seen them top new cars for 2022 to date with a market share of just over 8%.

The Sportage is the best-selling SUV  to date, even managing to out-sell the hugely popular Nissan Qashqai. The Niro, KIA’s compact SUV is also proving to be hugely popular and was the best-selling compact during the month of February.

Sportage sales have been boosted by the impressive all-new 2022 model, it is available with petrol, mild hybrid and full (self-charging) hybrid engines. Later in the year KIA are also adding a plug-in hybrid to the range that will be available with all-wheel drive.

The new KIA Sportage features updated/imrpoved suspension and a ‘terrain’ drive mode to tackle more demanding driving conditions.

Inside the Sportage feature two impressive 12.3-inch displays for driver instruments and infotainment on all but the entry-level ‘2’ model, making for an impressive dashboard. Exterior styling enhancements and improvements in interior quality are also features of the new Sportage.

The KIA brand has performed extremely well in the ‘electrified’ segments, headed by the full electric Niro, badged the e-Niro which has been the second best-selling full electric new car in 2022 to date, the EV6 is KIA’s other full electric offering.

KIA has a combination of 10 full hybrid, plug-in hybrid and EV models and overall, it has the second-best new sales in 2022 so far for across electrified segments.

KIA’s small city car, the Picanto has also sold in healthy number in 2022, in February it topped the sales of city cars in UK. At the time of writing an article UK Car Discount have Picanto models starting at under £11,000, making it an extremely affordable small car, ideal for around town driving.
