Hybrid Car Owners To Get Cheaper Car Insurance
Published Date: 4th May 2006
Car insurers have said they will adjust premiums to promote the use of environmentally friendly hybrid cars.
They also cut down the amount of emissions when compared to normal vehicles, hence being environmentally friendly.
Kevin Maxwell, motor insurance manager at More Than, commented: "We conducted research and found that one on six people would consider switching to a hybrid car.
"Between 2004 and 2005 we have seen a massive increase in the number of registered hybrid cars."
He added: "We are looking at how we could reward people who choose an eco-friendly car, in terms of insurance."
Despite this, drivers are still uncertain over the merits of the hybrid car industry, according to new research from Auto Express.
Some believe they are too expensive while others claim offer little choice when compared to conventional cars on the market.
Some motorists also expressed fears that politicians would not live up to their promises when it came to environmental issues.
