Car Insurance Sought For Winter Weather

Drivers are being urged to make sure they have adequate car insurance as the country is hit by a wave of cold weather.
Low tyre pressures, water levels and faulty wipers could all lead to breakdowns and without adequate cover or car insurance could cause drivers toface hefty bills.
Other seasonal hazards include using warm water to defrost windscreens, which lead them to crack; and sliding on roads that have not been properly salted or gritted.
The RAC has also warned that drivers often do not carry enough fuel on their journeys, leaving them stranded, especially when the travel on minor roads and fail to inform friends or relatives of their travel.
In the event of a breakdown, drivers are urged to find out where they are and use orange coloured SOS phones to call for assistance wherever possible.
