Exterior Tweaks
The face-lifted Ford Focus features a redesign bonnet and grille, notable the Ford badge has been shifted from the bonnet to the centre of the grille, LED lights are standard on all models.
Interior & Entertainment
The new face-lifted Focus gets the option of a large 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features Ford’s latest SYNC4 platform. It features wireless technology and hassle-free software updates.
Some buttons and controls have been moved to the infotainment system, namely heating and ventilation controls. The system also features voice recognition and smartphone mirroring with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The system is complemented with FordPass, drivers can install the companion app on their phone and remotely control features and access information about the vehicle. These can be things like lock/unlock, remote engine start and accessing information like fuel levels for example (supported vehicles only).
Driver Aids
Available with the Focus for the first time is Blind Spot Assist, the system monitors the driver’s blind spot and should the need arise, it can adjust steering to prevent a collision when changing lanes or drifting.
Engines/Powertrains
The range of mild hybrid 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engines (125 PS and 155 PS) have been boosted with a new 7-speed ‘Powershift’ automatic transmission option. The Powershift box is a dual clutch system that delivers fast and smooth gear changes. The Powershift system can improve efficiency by up to 10% over standard automatic transmissions and can also boost performance with fast/smooth up/down shifting when in sport mode.
The Ecoboost mild hybrid petrol engines return good economy figures, equipped with a manual gearbox, WLTP fuel efficiency is from 51.4 mpg and CO2 emissions from 116 g/km.
For those covering a lot of miles, a 1.5-litre (120PS) EcoBlue diesel engine is still available, it delivers fuel efficiency from 56.5 mpg and 120 g/km CO2 (WLTP).
Trim Levels
A revised new Ford Focus model line-up means there is no longer a top grade Vignale, the model line-up consists of Active, Titanium, Titanium, ST-Line and ST-Line X, models can be further enhanced (with the exception of the entry-level Active models) with the Vignale pack that adds styling enhancements and extra luxuries.
There is also a updated hot hatch ST model, the new ST model features revised exterior and interior styling, including new alloy wheels, ‘Mean Green’ paint and new sports seats.
Drivers who are looking for a Crossover type vehicle, can also consider the Active and Active X Focus models, that offer a higher driving position, more rugged SUV-like exterior styling and additional drive modes to tackle more demanding driving conditions.
