In 2014 a right hand drive Ford Mustang should be available in the UK for the first time.
The Ford Mustang will be celebrating its 50th year in 2014 and to celebrate Ford have plans to showcase the sixth generation Mustang across the world with Barcelona the chosen location in Europe at a ‘Go Further’ event.
The new UK Ford Mustang is expected to be smaller and lighter than it’s predecessor to aid fuel economoy whilst retaining it’s identity with muscular (if yet more subtle) and contemporary looks, with some design points expected to pay homage to the original 1964 model.
Sneak previews of the new mustang have illustrated sculpted rear-lights and a fastback roof, while at the front of the vehicle Ford’s sharp new family design traits are expected to feature..
Although it may not please some traditional Mustang fans Ford are expected to roll out a version of it’s state-of-the-art Ecoboost engine similar to one utilised by the new Ford Focus ST (possibly a 2.3 litre turbo version) but it should still deliver well over 300bhp (thought to be 310bhp). If you really want to up the power then a beefy 5.4 litre V8 is expected. Six speed manual and automatic gearboxes should also be available, ther auto transmission may be an eight speed version.
Handling is also expected to see some improvements with a new independent rear suspension system.
Expect an official unveiling of the new Ford Mustang at the end of 2013 with the car potentially available in the UK mid 2014.
