2014 Nissan Qashqai Review

Having just bagged the What Car - Car of the Year 2014 award the new Nissan Qashqai is a firm favourite among UK buyers. One of the most popular colours is the new pearlescent white which replaces the previous solid white paint. Among the more popular colour choices is also new metallic ink blue and the new metallic bronze, but the No.1 choice at the moment is the white that has been revitalised in a pearlescent mix. The Nissan Qashqai has been a big hit in the UK because of its style and practicality, which contributed to the car winning the WHATCAR car of the year award.

Nissan Qashqai Standard Equipment

The Visia model benefits from air-conditioning, cruise control and even Bluetooth, but they do miss out on some good stuff. Now for the Acenta, which adds dual-zone climate control, alloy wheels, and automatic lights and wipers.  The Acenta Premium is definitely worth a look, with a panoramic glass roof, reversing camera, and parking sensors (front & rear). The top of the range Tekna version is quite pricey, but you also get heated leather seats, LED headlights, a self-parking system, and front, side and rear cameras.

The Nissan Qashqai has some outstanding standard equipment on the acenta premium and tekna, but here’s what you can expect on the standard model2 speed wipers+variable intermittent wipe, Electric front/rear windows, Rear wiper, Brakes, ABS, brake assist and EBD, Electronic parking brake, ESP + traction control, Hill start assist, Bluetooth phone integration system, Cruise control, PAS, Speed limiter, Service interval indicator, Trip computer, Driving Mirrors, Body colour electric/heated door, mirrors, 4 speakers, Audio remote control, Mp3 auxiliary socket, Radio/CD, Black honeycomb front grille, Body colour bumpers, Chrome window surround, LED daytime running lights, Manual air conditioning, Pollen filter, 12V socket, Cloth upholstery, Front armrest, Front cupholders x 2, Illuminated glovebox, Rake/reach adjustable steering wheel, Interior Lights, Footwell ambient lighting, Child locks on rear doors, Curtain airbags, Driver/front passenger airbag, Height adjustable front seatbelts, Side airbags, Three 3 point rear seatbelts, Tyre pressure monitoring system, 60/40 split folding rear seat, Front headrests, Front seat belt pre-tensioners with load limiters, Height adjustable driver's seat, Isofix child seat preparation, Rear headrests, Alarm, Immobiliser, Remote central locking, 16" steel wheels, Tyre puncture repair kit

Nissan Qashqai Safety

All versions of the Nissan Qashqai have at least six airbags, stability control and emergency brake assist, while a Smart Vision Pack (optional on Visia and Acenta trims, and standard on more expensive models) adds lane-departure and collision-warning systems. The Qashqai also got a maximum five-star crash test rating from Euro NCAP. An engine immobiliser helps protect against thieves.

Nissan Qashqai Engine Range

The new 2014 Nissan Qashqai is available in a range of new turbo charged petrol engines which give improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions compared to their predecessors.  The entry-level 1.2 DIG-T petrol engine emits 129g/km of CO2, and will be joined in autumn 2014 by the 1.6 DIG-T, which develops 148bhp whilst emitting just 132g/km CO2 emissions.

The latest 1.5 dCi Diesel unit is the entry-level diesel engine. CO2 emissions for this model have dropped to 99g/km and with EU Combined fuel economy of 74.3mpg which in real world terms should provide at least 50 mpg.

Nissan Qashqai Interior

The Nissan Qashqai is well suited to family life, thanks to the Qashqai’s huge boot and spacious feeling interior. The rear seats don’t do anything particularly clever, but they do fold flat without the need to flip up the seatbases first. All model aprt from the entry-level Visia also come with a false boot floor, under which you can store your parcel shelf when you’re not using it.2014 qashqai exterior rear view

Nissan’s latest Qashqai gets the basic things right, by having lots of adjustment to the driver’s seat and even the steering wheel. The driver interface and console are very easy to use. One drawback is that the thick front and rear pillars can obstruct view, and adjustable lumbar support only come with the top models.
