Volkswagon Unveils New Golf Model
Published Date: 31st Aug 2008
The sixth generation VW Golf has recently been revealed. Continuing the evolutionary process, VW says the new model Golf is the safest and most technically advanced model to date plus they say it aims to set benchmarks in quality, style, safety and the reduction of emissions.
The new look aims to combine the elements that define the VW Golf across five generations while bringing them up to date. And the result is a clean, elegant design which is easily recognisable as a Golf yet remains an all-new shape.
The new model VW Golf will go on sale in January 2009, with prices/specifications to be announced at the end of 2008. In the meantime check out cheap new VW Golf offers for current models at UK Car Discount.
The new model Golf will have new petrol and diesel engines. A new 2.0 litre TDi 110PS common rail diesel engine will emit just 119g/km while giving 62.7 mpg on a combined cycle. Several of the petrol engines will adopt highly efficient TSI technology with outputs of 80 PS, 102 PS, 122 PS and 160 PS.
VW’s Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) will be offered on the new Golf. This is currently available on the VW Passat and comes as standard on the new VW Scirocco. This technology allows the driver to select from normal, comfort or sport modes to define the desired suspension, steering and accelerator response settings for any journery.
New safety features include a new head restraint system designed to reduce whiplash injuries plus rear seat belt detection sensors.
