Volkswagen top the list of the cleanest new diesel cars on the road today, just half a year after the widely publicised emissions scandal that saw the German Car-giant at the centre of the controversy.

The testing was executed by an independent body and over 70 % of new diesel cars failed to pass the latest emission guidelines for next year. The positive for Volkswagen is that all their diesel engines scored the cleanest test results.
The emissions independent body tested over 400 new diesel cars on sale, using the latest and same equipment that will be used when the new regulations hit in 2017. This new information sheds light on the many different car-makers that are behind on reducing emissions for their customers.
The tests found that less than 30% of all new diesel cars tested would produce the nitrogen oxide (NOx) levels low enough to get through the test. And it was Volkswagen Group – the German car-giant exposed 6 months ago for failing US emissions tests - topping the list of top performers.
