Toyota Back in Business: New 2016 Toyota Avensis

The New Toyota Avensis is the newest edition and competitor to the business saloon segment in the UK.

We are going to take a look at the 1.6 D-4D Business Edition Plus, the perfect model for this new feature. With the words Business Edition in its name, you can take a guess that this car is aimed at and is absolutely perfect for the business commuter.

Toyota’s flagship saloon is sold predominately through fleet channels to businesses, like taxi firms for example. Toyota has focused on its current clientele, by making it better rather than making any dramatic changes. It has been given a sharper and more refined look by its Japanese makers, and benefits from extra cabin space, comfort and functionality.

Toyota’s entry model remains as the Active and the top of the line is still named quite bluntly the Excel, The Business edition plus lands more towards the Excel. This new Business Edition Plus gives you exactly what you need on a car, whereas the Excel gives you a little more in the shape of creature comforts.

There are a few brand-new diesel engines on offer, coming with much improved fuel efficiency to keep the cost of those miles on the clock down to a minimum.

The new diesel engines on offer have been shrunk down from the 2.0 and 2.2 to a 1.6 and new more fuel efficient 2.0. If petrol is still your thing, you can get the usual 1.8 engine and its still great on fuel too.

The 1.6 Diesel engine delivers 110bhp and can reach 0 to 60 in as little as 11 seconds from standing. It’s not a rocket ship, but it will reach a top speed of 115mph. You also get great miles for your money, as this Toyota Avensis set-up does 67 mpg.

This isn’t the boy-racer car that will keep your heart-rate through the roof, instead it is very smooth and collective and even more so if you opt for the diesel engine.
