The very last Bugatti Veyron Super Sport goes under the hammer

Published Date: 17th Dec 2016

When this extremely rare Bugatti hyper car first rolled off the production line in 2013, the super sport variant would've cost a cool £1.2 million. What make this car special is the chassis number and serial number.

It was number 300 out of 300 ever made the serial number matches the last three digits of the chassis number. Another interesting fact, it is 1 of eight that were US-spec models sold and has been in possession of the original buyer since delivery.

Less than 400 miles on the clock since new, this figure includes Bugatti’s testing mileage of around 269 miles prior to delivery to each and every new customer. Every service has been carried out since new with the last one in May 2016.

This car was borrowed by Bugatti and displayed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The last Veyron ever built was on show right next to the very first Veyron ever built.

So what do you get for your money on the Super Sport?

1200bhp from an 8 litre W-16 engine (199bhp more than the original model) The W layout engine refers to the cylinder layout, in simple terms the engine is like a double V8 with the first set of cylinders having a wider angle and the second set of cylinders sat in the middle at a much narrower angle, all firing down and providing the power to the crankshaft.

Four wheel drive and four turbochargers provide the boost pressure, a seven speed dual clutch, semi automatic transmission, double wishbone suspension front and rear and carbon ceramic disc brakes make up the stopping power at each wheel that works with the rear spoiler that tilts up providing an airbrake.

Of the 300 Veyrons built only 48 of them were Super Sport models featuring the extra power and styling. The up-rated power came from improved turbochargers and two extra fuel pumps to cope with the monster thirst for fuel when you put your foot down, 0-60mph is capable in just 2.4 seconds.

The auction takes place across the pond in the US. RM Sotheby’s Arizona will be hosting this super rare and low mileage hyper car in January 2017. It will be up for auction alongside some other rare beauties of the past and present like the Ferrari Enzo and F50, Porsche 959 and two Lamborghini Countach LP 400s.
