The New VW Polo

Published Date: 3rd Mar 2009

The new 5th generation Volkswagen Polo with styling features inspired by the new Scirocco and Mk6 Golf has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

The styling feature that really stands out is the new front-end look with a full width lower grille and a narrower upper opening which makes the Polo wider than its predecessor.

There will be two petrol engines in the UK,  both are 1.2 litre three-cylinder with either 58bhp or 68bhp and they are both equipped with five-speed manual gearboxes as standard.

There will also be two 1.6 litre Tdi diesel engines with either 73bhp or 87bhp. Again both come with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Interior quality has improved in line with the new Golf and includes soft-touch plastics and new backlit dials. There is also an alloy trim decoration which gives an upmarket feel to the cabin.

Touch-screen sat-nav is available as an additional option and MP3 connectivity is standard.

The Polo five-door starts production in July with UK deliveries starting in October. The three-door option is due to go on sale in December.

Prices are expected to rise by an average of £500.00 on the current models. Why not have a look at the offers Uk Car Discount have on the current vw polo.
