The New Vauxhall Agila

Published Date: 28th May 2007

Vauxhall will launch its new small city car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007. Called the Agila, it will then go on sale in the UK in Spring 2008.

The new Vauxhall Agila is based on a Suzuki platform and will share most of its parts with Suzuki’s new city car – the Splash – which will also be on view at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

As a successor to Vauxhall’s hugely popular Nova, the new Agila is longer than the Nova but is not as tall. However it is very different in shape to the Nova, with a very distinctive rear upright windscreen that will set it apart from more conventional models.

The Agila will come with 5 doors and 5 seats as standard and has great storage capacity due to its clever shape. The rear seats can be folded down to provide a completely flat floor, in total a storage area of 1150 litres will be available.

It will be available with 3 new engines – 1.0 litre and 1.2 litre petrol engines plus a 1.3 litre CDTi diesel engine (also used in the Corsa). This new diesel engine is likely to be the top choice, especially for those looking for an economical and environmentally friendly car.
