The End of Scrappage Doesnt Mean An End to Savings

Published Date: 14th Mar 2010

The Government's Scrappage Scheme may have ended, but this doesn't mean an end to saving thousands

UK Car Discount, the country's leading online car dealership, are keen to note that potential new car customers can still save thousands on the price of a new car online with some of their great deals thay have managed to secure.

By offering a range of big savings on new cars, UK Car Discount are still able to help the overall drive to reduce CO2 emissions by reducing the number of older cars on the road. The annual New Car CO2 Report released earlier this week by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) suggests that the average new car sold in the UK in 2009 had emission of 149.5g/km of CO2, 5.4% less than in 2008.

Despite criticism, the Government’s scrappage scheme does appear to have encouraged car buyers towards lower emission vehicles. The average car bought under the scheme emitted 133.3g/km, nearly 27% less than the average scrapped car. By offering a great range of discounts on new car prices, UK Car Discount hope to keep this trend going

The EU has set a target of average emissions of 130g/km for all new cars from 2015 onwards, which is now met by nearly a third of cars registered in the UK.

Examples of some massive savings on a new car:
