The All New Improved Ford Focus

The all-new Ford Focus range is being rolled out in the coming months in both the 5 door hatchback and estate guises, so what can you expect from the latest model?
Exterior design of the all-new Focus is a sportier affair with a longer bonnet giving the vehicle a strong look and flowing lines offering a sportier and sleek profile, the vehicles also boasts class leading aerodynamics for improved fuel economy.
The all-new Focus interior has been simplified and re-organised to create more space in the cabin for driver, front and rear passengers. The new dashboards centre-piece is a ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system (on Zetec models and up), with the seamless ‘classy’ design of the dash offering an improved, premium feel over the outgoing model.
An electric brake is now standard on all models which further adds to the space-saving, freeing up some elbow room for driver and front passenger
A longer wheel-base means more leg room from rear passengers (an extra 50mm) whilst more shoulder room is on offer in both the front and rear of the vehicle. Boot space is also a winner with the all-new Ford Focus estate in particular benefiting (the boot is 43mm deeper and 25mm longer from back to rear seats). You can fold the Estate model’s rear seats using the new ‘Easy Fold’ feature which is a single pull of a switch to gain a class-leading 1,650 litres of space.
Engines comprise of the multi-award winning Ecoboost petrol engines and the new EcoBlue turbocharged diesel engine range. The engine range are also fitted with Auto Start Stop for improved fuel efficiency with the option of either a 6-speed manual transmission or an all-new quick shift 8-speed automatic transmission.
Ford’s much heralded 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is available in either 85 PS, 100 PS or 125 PS options and a new 3 cylinder 1.5-litre unit, available with 150 PS and 182 PS options. The Ecoboost engines benefit from some clever Ford technology that can automatically stop one of the engine's cylinders when power demands are not at full capacity for example when cruising or coasting downhill.
The new 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engines are available as either a 95 PS or 120 PS unit. The new EcoBlue engines offer improved power without sacrificing economy or emissions figures. The cleanest diesel boasts emission of just 91g/km. For more power the 2.0 diesel outputs 150PS and 370M of torque.
Safety features are improved on the Focus range, included as standard on all models are; Autonomous Emergency Breaking, Post-collision braking, Lane-Keeping and Lane-Departure Warning Systems, Intelligent Speed Assist and Speed Limiter, Front and rear seatbelt minder, Rear centre headrest, Passenger Airbag Deactivation Switch, ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) and Hill Start Assist.
Standard equipment has been improved across the new Focus model range, the entry-level new Focus Studio model features alloy wheels as standard for the first time, front and rear power electric windows, automatic headlights, auto-fold rear seats, 4.2-inch colour screen, DAB radio, Bluetooth, air con and electric parking brake.
The Zetec model adds the following features; floating 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, voice control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, cruise control, leather trimmed steering wheel and gear knob.
The Titanium and Titanium-X provide improved levels of tech and equipment and add power folding door mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, automatic windscreen wipers, heated front seats, dual zone air con, keyless entry/start and 8 inch touch screen with sat nav. On Titanium X model there’s also part-leather interior and privacy glass.
The Vignale (new to the Focus line-up) provides exceptional levels of luxury including full interior leather ‘Vignale’ seats, Vignale body styling and front grille, rear view camera, active park assist, ambient full colour interior lighting, head-up display, heated steering wheel and B&O premium sound system.
The ST-Line and ST-Line X are 10mm lower and boast higher levels of equipment and more sportier looks than ever before. The ST-Line features include; 17-inch ‘Rock Metallic’ alloy wheels, LED front fog lights, ST-Line styled upper & lower grille with full body styling kit and ST-Line wing badges, large body coloured rear spoiler, polished twin exhaust, sports tuned suspension, flat bottomed steering wheel with red stitching, aluminium gear knob (manual Gearbox), alloy finished pedals and keyless start. The ST-Line X adds more equipment including privacy glass, heated front seats, parking sensors and 8-inch touchscreen with navigation.
