This is the very first model from the Ford Performance Division to feature a three cylinder motor, and also the first Fiesta ST to have selectable drive modes. This brings together the steering, engine and stability controls to be configured with settings for Sport, Normal and Track modes. The settings will bring fun driving optimisations, whether you’re on the road or track.

The different drive modes also affect the Exhaust note with Ford’s Electronic Sound Enhancement (ESE) and an actively controlled exhaust valve that delivers a greater satisfaction from driving the car. The use of these two technologies combine to simply amplify the naturally sporty sound of the new 1.5 litre engine that will also see cylinder deactivation technology.

In another Industry first on a three cylinder engine, Ford has applied a cylinder deactivation system to further reduce emissions on the sporty hatchback. The technology operates activation or deactivation of a cylinder in 14 milliseconds faster than the blink of an eye, The quick operation from fuel saving to full throttle is completely seamless.

The 2018 Fiesta St will be available to order from early 2018 in both the three and five door variants. A greater choice of personalisation to the interior trim will be available with final designs and colours still being decided upon. The exterior will receive that race pedigree mesh grille with special 18 inch alloys exclusive to the ST.
