Renault enters the one-tonne pick-up market with ALASKAN beginning with Latin America.

Renault builds on successful history in South America, a massive pick-up truck market, with the global reveal and first deliveries to hit Colombia before anywhere else.

Medellin, Colombia - In a dramatic worldwide reveal surrounded by the rugged Colombian countryside, Groupe Renault has unveiled the Renault ALASKAN, the one-tonne pick-up with a fresh new design looking to set itself apart from the competition.

The New Renault Alaskan is strong and comfortable, and gives excellent driving comfort enhanced by a cutting-edge five-link rear suspension and a tough, fully boxed frame. And it is a powerful, cleverly designed pick-up combining exemplary off-road ability with class-leading fuel economy with Renault’s 2.3-litre dCi engine under the bonnet.

“Alaskan’s design includes assertive dimensions and a visual impression of power and strength. It is the perfect companion for leisure use and everyday motoring,” Explained Laurens van den Acker, Groupe Renault SVP, corporate design.

Renault is a LCV expert worldwide

Renault is a huge LCV expert worldwide with over 18 years of leadership in and around Europe and strong positions in many more countries all over the world thanks to its wide range of commercial vans and consistently reliable services.

Back in September 2015, Renault addressed the needs of LCV clients more clearly by launching a global expert brand with a large panel of services dedicated to these customers and in-turn increasing the rivalry to Ford’s Transit: Renault Pro+. With the expert brand, Renault continues to provide LCV customers with tailor-made services and products and a much respected specialist network.

The smaller light commercial vehicles that Renault provides are a major strategic market especially in South America. In 2015, 15 million LCVs has been sold in the world and the segment pick-ups account for more than one-third of total LCV sales: 5 million units worldwide.

“This stunning vehicle provides us with the means to fulfil the needs of professional users and individual customers around the world. With ALASKAN, we are on track to take Renault’s LCV Division forward from being a top regional player to a top global player,” Announced Ashwani Gupta - VP, Groupe Renault’s Global Head of Light Commercial Vehicles Business.
