The Nissan Qashqai+2 Two More Seats?
Published Date: 27th Apr 2013
The new Nissan Qashqai+2 is the 7 seater version of Nissan’s flagship crossover. Firstly before we review the vehicle we’d like to advise a little caution with the seven seater tag, the +2 model is only 200mm longer than it’s little brother the standard 5 seater new Nissan Qashai and the extra space and two seats realistically are not going to accommodate a couple of large adults. In fact leg and head room is very tight on the third row and even a small adult might struggle to sit in there for anything other than a short journey, lets be honest the two additional seats are really to accommodate children and in all likelihood that is what the majority of people buying a+2 would want anyway .... we’re guessing??....
OK that’s a slight negative but there’s a big plus if you are only use the five seats most of the time, folding down the two additional seats flat will give you a very generously sized boot and hey it’s a Nissan Qashqai; a solid, reliable, fantastic looking and extremely well-equipped vehicle and no wonder it is the UK’s favourite crossover in fact it’s one of the UK’s best-selling cars full stop.
Even the entry-level new Nissan Qashqai+2 Visia model is extremely well-equipped and comes with 16 inch alloy wheels, ABS with brake assist and EBD, four speaker Radio/CD/MP3 audio system with Bluetooth support, electric power windows, electronic stability programme, air conditioning with pollen filter, rear privacy glass, ultrasonic alarm and immobiliser, isofix child seat points.
If you move to the new Nissan Qashqai+2 Accenta model the equipment level is really impressive with the addition of 17 inch alloy wheels, auto lighting system, body-coloured mirrors and door handles, cruise control with speed limiter, electric folding mirrors, fog lamps, panoramic glass roof, automatic wipers, a 6 speaker audio system with USB support, and the ultrasonic rear parking system.
The new Nissan Qashqai+2 360 model which we recently reviewed adds the 360 around view monitor, aluminium pedals, front rear and side view cameras, rear view parking camera, classy looking gloss black interior trim and gloss back roof rails, part leather covered seats and leather trim on armrests and steering wheel and the Nissan connect sat nav system.
The top of the range new Nissan Qashqah+2 Tekna adds a Bose 7 speaker audio system, intelligent key, full leather upholstery, heated front seats, satin silver roof rails and Xenon clear lens headlamps with washers.
Unless you have a real need for a 4WD model you might want to stick with one of the 2WD models, the four-wheel drive 2.0 petrol engine for example emits a large 194g/km of CO2 and will struggle to return 35mpg for most people one of the diesel dCi engines will fit the bill with a good trade-off between performance and economy, the 1.6-litre dCi diesel for example should deliver fuel economy of around 60mpg and CO2 emissions of only 123g/km.
