Nissan Qashqai now the UK's Best-Selling Family Car/SUV

The New Nissan Qashqai has been the most popular SUV for some time now, but now has a new mantle – It’s overtaken the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra and VW Golf to become the most popular family car in the UK. This is for the first time ever a crossover has topped the list of family cars. The Nissan Qashqai in the last five years has been the biggest-selling SUV/Crossover. The best selling family cars have been the Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf or Vauxhall Astra — all hatchback vehicles — But January 2016 paved the way for a new contender because each one was beaten by the New Nissan Qashqai. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) announced that an SUV/Crossover had never ever outsold all other family cars.

The New Nissan Qashqai is the UK’s best-selling SUV/Crossover, and to be placed in 2nd for new car registrations is a new record for Nissan, the 2nd place has been previously held between the Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Focus for many years. This shows the national demand for the Nissan Qashqai and how most of us are realising that an SUV/Crossover is the way forward.
January 2016 saw 4,839 Nissan Qashqai’s registered while the next most popular family car, the Focus, recorded 4,285 registrations. Five years ago, in January 2011, the Focus racked up 7,582 registrations, compared with 2,108 for the Qashqai. This shows how far Nissan have come with the Qashqai.
