New Hybrid Nissan Juke Release Date & Details
Published Date: 3rd Mar 2022
Nissan is releasing a hybrid version of it’s popular compact SUV, the Juke. The new hybrid Juke could hit UK showrooms mid to late 2022, with an official release date awaiting.
More Power, Lower Running Costs
The new hybrid powertrain delivers increased performance, Nissan say 25% more than the conventional petrol Juke model. Economy figures could be reduced by just shy of 30% (based on a combine mpg figure) and as much as 40% based on an urban cycle according to Nissan.
The new hybrid Juke comes with three selectable drive modes Eco/Normal/Sport mode so you can choose between performance, the lowest running costs or a balance between the two.
Economy Figures
Official economy figures are yet to be released but expect CO2 emissions of around 118g/km and fuel economy of 54mpg (figures based on combined cycles).
Nissan say during urban driving tests they achieved up to 80% of driving in full electric mode with short intervals in hybrid mode to recharge the battery. For people who do most of their driving around town this could mean super-low running costs and a tranquil driving experience.
The Nissan Juke Hybrid also utilizes regenerative Braking technology, the technology recuperates friction energy when the vehicle is slowing down, this is in turn is used to add some additional ‘juice’ back to the battery.
Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance
The new hybrid powertrain was built utilizing the engineering expertise of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.
Nissan produced the main electric motor, while Renault engineering is responsible for the 15kW starter/generator, inverter and 1.2kW battery. Renault also produced the state-of-the-art. low friction multi modal gearbox.
e-Pedal Provides Single Pedal Driving
The new Juke Hybrid is equipped with Nissan’ e-Pedal technology, the system effectively provides a single pedal driving system.
As you reduce pressure on the accelerator, your speed is reduced in the same way it would be with moderate braking. Note, that Nissan say additional use of the brake pedal may be required for sharp braking and/or to bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
Updated Driver Display
An updated driver display shows EV information and charging status to the left of the speed. The display switches between ‘charge’ when energy regeneration is in use, ‘eco’ when you are in full electric mode and ‘power’ when you are in hybrid mode and utilising the petrol combustion engine. At the bottom of the driver display the battery charge status is also displayed.
